LATVIA INTRODUCES NEW RESTRICTIONS ON CARS
Starting from 2021, it will be impossible to register a car older than three years in Latvia. A mandatory aspect is petrol and diesel engines. Thus, the state wants to get rid of most of the cars that pollute the atmosphere. This is likely to provoke a new flow of cars to the CIS countries. Since Latvia prohibits it, no one in Europe will buy it either. This means that the cars will be sold in Russia, Ukraine and other countries.The government is only considering this bill, but it is likely to be passed. This rule will apply to vehicles that are re-registered. Therefore, you will have to get rid of the car as quickly as possible.
At the moment, statistics show that in 2018, 67,000 cars were registered in the country, of which 55,000 were re-registered. The average age of the car was 8.5 years.Auto experts believe that this way the government will simply deprive the movement of its population.
