CES 2020: MERCEDES-BENZ CREATED THE VISION AVTR, A CAR INSPIRED BY AVATAR
The Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR is a car inspired by the 2009 film Avatar that won three Academy awards. The electric concept was revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The concept name is an abbreviation of Advanced Vehicle Transformation. To develop the model, Mercedes-Benz engineers and designers teamed up with the team that worked on the avatar blockbuster a decade ago. Even Director James Cameron, producer John Landau, and Directors Ben Procter and Aashrita Kamat took the stage with an innovative prototype.
The Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR has a battery capacity of 110 kW / h, which provides it with autonomy of up to 700 kilometers. Two electric motors develop 476 horsepower. Two decks can move in the same direction or in opposite directions, allowing the concept to move sideways.
With lines typical of an ultra-modern sports coupe and active aerodynamic elements, the Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR showcases 33 bionic flaps on the rear side. They mimic the scales of reptiles and move simultaneously to direct the flow of air.
